The subtext of the list is that writing for a general audience should be clear before anything else and language that obscures for no apparent purpose other than ostentation is pompous.
With that in mind, PAW's are OK when they're used to avoid redundancy and their parallelism makes the definition clear, e.g. "his claim of x is laughable and his claim of y is equally risible."
